The Butter Factory Presents: House of Tokidoki

24 July 2010 - The Butter Factory is proud to unveil, at the Bump room, a facelift designed by  Simone Legno, the designer from internationally renowned lifestyle brand Tokidoki.

Tokidoki, a Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand, was commissioned by The Butter Factory to design the interior of Bump. In line with the ‘House of…’ theme, the new look ‘House of Tokidoki’ theme incorporates the Tokidoki’s signature quirky characters and artwork that have received much fanfare from all over the world. ‘The ‘House of Tokidoki’ will be an interpretation of Bump as a home for Tokidoki’s characters, complete with areas reminiscent of a typical cosy house such as a swimming pool, living room and fireplace.

The ‘House of Tokidoki’ replaces Bump’s previously commissioned ‘House of Peskimo’, a design fixture at Bump for the past 15 months.

‘House of Tokidoki’ will be unveiled on 24 July 2010, Saturday, with a housewarming pyjama party, where patrons are encouraged to dress up in their fanciest pyjamas for the event to witness the facelift. VIP members will have first dibs to the preview from 9-10pm, and doors open to the public from 10pm onwards, where those dressed in the most impressive pyjamas are given complimentary entry to the club.

About Tokidoki
Tokidoki is a happy world. It is a cute, playful and pure, yet provocative, sophisticated world that he could imagine, live and dream of.

Tokidoki means "sometimes" in Japanese.  I chose a Japanese word because I love Japan.  I love everything from the ultra modern happy face of Shibuya to the serious magic silence of Kyoto.  I chose "sometimes", because everyone waits for moments that change one's destiny … by chance or by meeting a new person … Tokidoki is the hope, the hidden energy that everyone has inside, giving us the strength to face a new day and dream about something positive that something magical will happen to us. Simone Legno

Tokidoki started as Legno’s professional web portfolio and artistic diary while living in Italy, where he created illustrations, advertising and new media design for various clients as a freelancer. A partial list of these clients includes Volkswagen, MTV, John Galliano, Champion, Toyota, Renault, Daihatsu, BenQ, Microsoft, Narcotic Bureau of Singapore, Telecom Italia, TIM and many more.

Tokidoki has collaborated with other brands such as K Karl Lagerfeld, Sephora, LeSportsac, Onitsuka Tiger, Marvel, New Era, Hello Kitty, Fujitsu, Levi's, Smashbox cosmetics,  Xbox, T-mobile, Fornarina, Medicom Toy, Skullcandy and more to come. Legno was asked to design the creative concept for the 2005 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in L.A., the main fashion event in LA, and he has spoken at venues like the MOCA (Geffen Los Angeles), Adobe MAX conference, UCLA, USC, Flash Film Festival in San Francisco, Apple store in Osaka, Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome and many others.

About Simone Legno
Born in Rome, Italy (June 1977), Simone has always loved drawing ever since he was a kid and had boxes full of chewed broken pencils. In 2004 Legno moved to Los Angeles to develop the Tokidoki apparel, art and lifestyle licensing brand with 2 business partners (Ivan Arnold and Pooneh Mohajer). In 2005 Tokidoki was launched first as a clothing line and because of its success they moved onto other items such as vinyl toys, skate decks, jewellery, watches, knitwear, sportswear, accessories, shoes and stationery.
