Bernie Ecclestone has spoken out following the furore that erupted at Sunday’s German Grand Prix at Hockenheim when stewards fined Ferrari for implementing team orders which saw Felipe Massa slow down to allow team-mate Fernando Alonso to claim victory.
After the race former driver David Coulthard called for the rule to be scrapped and Ecclestone agrees. "I must confess I would agree with anyone who thinks that," he said. "I believe what people do when they are inside the team, and how they run their team, is up to them."
Given his power, Ecclestone is obviously in a position to suggest the possibility of the regulation being written out of the rule book. "I don’t know, we’ll have to see. It’s something that needs to be discussed," he added.
