Rubens Barrichello has described his continued hunger for Formula One as being like "magic".
Barrichello creates history this weekend as the Belgian Grand Prix represents his 300th, spanning a 17-year career in one of the most physically demanding of sports. It is a remarkable achievement for the 11-times grand prix winner who shows no signs of slowing down, and whose thirst for success when many would have thrown in the towel is admirable.
"The bit that touches me is how competitive I am at 300, but I feel powerful," said Barrichello.
I don't know why, but it's magic. I am surprised I can arrive here and be so enthusiastic, but I cannot tell you why it's happening. He added: "This month I was in Brazil for the holiday and since Monday I've been waking up earlier for exercise because I wanted to be on the European time zone.
The last time I woke up at 4am and I went down to the gym, and as I got up my wife said 'you're damn crazy!'"Over the past three weeks I've also changed onto dvd from video tape some of my old races.
"That was because when I got back from the gym at 5.30am I had to do something because my wife and the kids were still sleeping.
"Even after being on holiday for a week I wanted to be get back in the car, and I don't know why.
My wife is terrified because she thinks I'm going to race forever.
