Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has admitted his “disappointment and frustration” at Mark Webber’s failure to inform him of a broken shoulder suffered towards the end of last season.
Webber, 34, sustained the injury falling off his mountain bike prior to the Japanese Grand Prix in October. And although he played down the severity of the “skier’s fracture” in ‘Up Front - 2010, A Season To Remember', which was published in Australia on Monday, it coincided with a dip in form which ultimately saw the drivers’ title go to team mate Sebastian Vettel.
It is the second time in two years that Webber has suffered an injury while out training on his bike. Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has expressed his disappointment with Mark Webber for not informing him of a shoulder injury sustained towards the end of the recent Formula One season.
"I didn't even know about the book, let alone the shoulder," said Horner.
It is obviously disappointing Mark said nothing. It was an injury that did not appear to have any effect on his performance, but all the same it would have been nice to know about it."Horner would now appreciate Webber avoiding mountain bikes in the future given the Australian broke his right leg and fractured a shoulder in an accident in November 2008.
"Our drivers have an obligation to make sure they are fit," added Horner.
"It seems bikes don't agree with Mark, so maybe it would be better if he stayed away from them."
