Hamilton Makes Wrong Pitstop at McLaren in Malaysia

24 March 2013

Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton had the whole of Formula One laughing at his expense on Sunday as he pulled into the McLaren pits during the Malaysian Grand Prix. Hamilton, who made a big-money switch from McLaren to Mercedes ahead of the 2013 season, completely forgot which team he drives for when he pulled in for fresh tyres on the eighth lap of the race at Sepang.

The bemused McLaren engineers - who were standing around waiting for Hamilton's former team-mate Jenson Button - merely chuckled and waved at Hamilton, who realised his mistake and carried on down to the right garage.

Luckily for Hamilton, the Mercedes pits are further along the pit lane than the McLaren ones - otherwise he'd have had to drive all the way round once more.
